Lockdown: Week 3

I’m a little late posting my retrospective of Week 3 in lockdown, but it’s been a challenge to find the energy or enthusiasm to write lately.

With last weekend being Easter, we usually like to go to the beach or somewhere along the coast for the day, if the weather is going to be good – and the weather this past week has been amazing… but we can’t leave the house. So, improvisation became the key word of the week and we ended up bringing the beach to the back garden. Honestly, this little beach hut is one of the best things ever. And okay, we maybe haven’t been able to use it as much as we wanted because the dog has claimed it as hers, but the thought is there.

Another thought I had was to do something nice for my sister and give her something fun to do away from the current stresses of her work, so I decided to create a giant scavenger hunt. There were riddles and clues and even a map at one stage, which sent her all around the garden until she came to the end of the challenge where a present was waiting for her. She absolutely loved it, which made me really happy to see her enjoying herself so much. The bar of chocolate at the end as her prize also helped.

Aside from the above, it’s been a quiet week. I did start making a serious dent in Disney+. (FYI, deciding to watch Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame when in a heightened emotional state, is not a good idea. It’s why I had to watch the Sister Act and Miss Congeniality movies to balance things out.)

I also tried to write during the week, but while the ideas are there, I just can’t seem to get them to work on the page the same way. It’s been frustrating and chipped away at my enthusiasm to keep going. So, I now have random paragraphs and bit-part sentences for five different stories now stashed away on my computer… I’d love to be able to just click my fingers and have all my ideas appear on the page exactly how I want them. It would make the writing process so much easier!

How has everyone’s week shaped up?
